The Russian oil giant LUKOIL has signed a partnership agreement with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) establishing a global cooperation that will allow the two partners to work in the area of youth employment.
The agreement was signed at the International High-level Conference on Decent Work in Moscow which took place on 11 and 12 December. Also during the gathering, two other key agreements were signed between the ILO on one side and the Russian Federation on the other.
In addition to youth unemployment, other areas of cooperation between LUKOIL and the ILO included also shared expertise and training. The company has agreed to support the international organisation in the design and implementation of a technical cooperation project entitled “Partnerships for youth employment in the Commonwealth of Independent States”.
Moreover, LUKOIL has also agreed to cooperate with the ILO’s Bureau for Employers’ Activities on training programmes, and to start a close collaboration for sharing expertise.
The parties will establish a Joint Committee which will hold annual meetings to monitor implementation and execution of the agreement which is valid until 31 December 2017.
In relation to the establishment of the global partnership, Anatoly Moskalenko, OAO LUKOIL Vice President, said: ‘Our Company acknowledges the importance of the issues related to creation of decent labour conditions for the youth, which currently presents a global objective and a challenge properly shared by many countries’.
The company maintains that it is currently the only Russian company to have signed a cooperation agreement with the International Labour Organisation.
The history of cooperation between Russia and the ILO dates back to 1959 when the ILO office in Moscow, one of the first globally established offices of the organisation, was opened. new europe
