Greece jails two 'neo-Nazis' for killing Pakistani
The two suspects went on trial in December last year
Two men suspected of links with the ultra-nationalist group Golden Dawn have been jailed for life in Greece over the fatal stabbing of a Pakistani immigrant last year.
A court found Christos Stergiopoulos and Dionysis Liakopoulos guilty of killing Luqman Shahzad, 27, in the Athens suburb of Petralona.
Reports say racism was discounted as the motive. Shahzad died last January.
Golden Dawn, seen by many as neo-Nazis, won 7% in the 2012 Greek elections.
The group took up 18 seats in parliament, but some have been stripped of their parliamentary immunity so that criminal charges can be laid. Prosecutors consider it to be a criminal organisation.
In court the pair jailed on Tuesday said they had got into an argument with Shahzad after he blocked their path with his bicycle, the AFP news agency reported.
The party denies being a neo-Nazi movement although its logo resembles the swastika.
Nine Golden Dawn MPs are already facing charges and party leader Nikolaos Michaloliakos is one of six in jail pending trial.
Their arrests followed the killing of an anti-fascist musician. bbc
