Greece and Turkey’s Premiers Meet in Konstantinopolis

On the sidelines of Greece-Turkey Supreme Cooperation Council held in Konstantinopolis , Greece’s Prime Minister Antonis Samaras described Monday as a good day for Greek –Turkish relations. Some 25 agreements were signed during the Council.
The issue of Greece’s Exclusive Economic Zone was brought up during the meeting of Greek Prime Minister A. Samaras with his Turkish counterpart Tayip Erdogan who spoke of a mutually beneficial solution while Mr. Samaras underlined that there is always the “right deriving from international law”. Among others the two leaders talks also covered furthering of economic relations, rise in tourism, respect and protection of cultural heritage and the combat of illegal immigration.
There was also extensive reference to Turkey’s European prospect which -as Mr. Samaras said- Greece has supported and still supports. Greece’s Prime Minister also reminded Turkey’s obligation to comply with European criteria and underlined that resolution of the Cyprus question would give a new prospect to Turkey’s EU course.
On his part, Turkish Prime Minister Tayip Erdogan said that Greece-Turkey relations have been improving every day in the last years.      Filia 106,7 fm
