The President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, has said that Europe must be more "co-ordinated" if it is to solve the employment crisis.
“We need to educate for employment”, he said during the European business Summit in Brussels on 26 April.
Within the next EU budget (2014-2020), the European Commission wants to focus on “getting people into work”. But this objective can only be possible if there is a national and European co-ordination. According to Barroso, “we need all the actors”, such as the  social partners and business leaders to work together.
As he explained, the European Commission is working on his future strategy, EU 2020. “We are not out of the crisis and we have to complete our work”, Barroso said. With this new project, growth is the key to get Europe “back on track”, he said.
The objective is to create competition, something impossible if European countries doesn´t work together. “The money is not for Brussels. It´s for companies and for countries. We need investment at European level”.
The EU 2020 Agenda will put over the table issues like sustainable growths, job creation, the possibility for people to improve their skills and more opportunities. “This is an ambitious plan, but at the same time realistic”, he concluded.
